QUESTIONS
- Can I search by product description?
- Yes. Enter at least three characters, such as laptop, to see up to 20 matching schedule lines. Open a result to read its ancestor descriptions and duty fields. Search results are candidates to review, not automatic product classifications.
- Which code formats work?
- US HTS codes with 4, 6, 8, or 10 digits. Dots and spaces are optional. Four-digit headings and other parent lines can have no duty specified; that does not mean the rate is zero.
- Is the general duty my total import tax?
- No. The general, special, and column 2 fields are published schedule strings. Origin-specific additional duties, exclusions, fees, and other conditions can affect an import. The widget does not calculate landed cost or issue a customs ruling.
- How do I check freshness?
- Every result shows the schedule revision served by the API. Consult the official US International Trade Commission schedule and notes when reviewing a classification or duty.
- Can I put this on an import guide?
- Yes. Register your site through a free publisher account and copy the embed code. Visitors search without an account. The same code lookup and description search are available through the Tariff API.
