Parse API LLC, trading as ParseAPI, provides the website, dashboard, APIs, and Bulk file processing at parseapi.com and api.parseapi.com. These terms cover your use of the service. By creating an account or calling the API, you agree to them. If you don't, don't use the service.
1. The service
ParseAPI provides lookups such as IP, postal, email, and user-agent parsing. The APIs return JSON. Bulk processes uploaded files and returns downloadable results. We aim for very low latency. Availability commitments for paid subscriptions are described in our Service Level Agreement. Availability and speed are otherwise not guaranteed except where a separate written agreement says otherwise.
2. Accounts and API keys
You're responsible for your account and activity under your API keys. Secret keys (parse_) belong on your server. Keep them out of public repositories, browsers, and mobile apps. Public keys (parse_public_) are designed for browsers and their requests are checked against configured domains. App keys (parse_app_) are designed for mobile apps and their requests are checked against configured app IDs. Keep those lists accurate. If a secret key leaks or another key is being misused, archive it in the dashboard and create a replacement.
3. Acceptable use
Don't use ParseAPI to:
- Break the law, harm people, or run fraud / abuse campaigns
- Test generated or guessed email addresses to discover people's inboxes
- Prepare purchased, rented, or scraped contact lists for unsolicited bulk messaging, phishing, or harassment
- Attack, overload, or disrupt the service (or anyone else's)
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or rebuild our datasets for a competing product
- Resell raw API access or bulk responses without our written permission
- Share keys or let others burn through your plan without authorization
We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe these terms are being violated.
Use Email and Bulk for contacts you are authorized to process, such as customer records, subscriber lists, and user-submitted signups. Verification does not establish permission to send messages. We may hold a file for review and ask where it came from and how you intend to use it. A held file needs approval before mailbox verification or payment. Approval applies only to that file. If you believe a hold is mistaken, explain the source and use through the file's review form.
4. Plans, usage, and billing
Plans include pooled monthly requests and separate included allowances for metered products. Some endpoints include richer data with paid plans through ?deep=true; other endpoints meter a core lookup or a deep lookup. The Free plan also includes metered allowances. Current plans, included allowances, and prices are on Plans.
New plans allow seven days of continued API access after the pooled monthly request allowance is exceeded, ending sooner when the UTC calendar month resets. After grace expires, requests pause until the next monthly reset or a plan change provides enough capacity. Exceeding the request allowance does not add automatic request overage charges. Monitor usage and your grace deadline in the dashboard; usage notices are a reminder, not a condition of the limit.
Existing teams retain their prior included metered allowances, on-demand rates, and pooled request policy until they change plans. Under the prior request policy, exceeding the pooled allowance does not automatically stop or slow traffic or add request overage charges. A plan change adopts the terms shown before confirmation. Your dashboard shows your current terms.
Metered allowances work differently. Once an included allowance runs out, further metered lookups require on-demand usage to be enabled on an eligible plan. Enabled on-demand usage is billed at your plan's per-product rates. A monthly spending limit, if you set one, is shared across metered products. Metered lookups stop when their allowance is exhausted and on-demand usage is unavailable or disabled, or when the shared spending limit is reached.
Unusually sustained or excessive usage may prompt us to discuss a more suitable plan or take reasonable service-protection action, including limiting or suspending access, under our fair-use and anti-abuse protections.
Paid subscriptions renew until you cancel. Fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law or where we say otherwise in writing. Taxes may apply.
Bulk jobs on a paid team's plan use that plan's allowances and on-demand settings. Walk-in and Free-plan Bulk jobs are priced per file, with the price shown before payment. A one-time Bulk payment does not create a subscription. For one-time jobs, lookups marked as unknown are refunded to the original payment method. If a job fails, the payment is refunded in full.
5. Your data and ours
You keep ownership of content you submit, including account details and uploaded files. You grant us permission to process what's needed to run the service, including authentication, billing, support, API requests, and Bulk jobs.
How we handle personal data is described in our Privacy Policy. Please read it.
6. Intellectual property
ParseAPI, the site, branding, and underlying systems are ours (or our licensors'). These terms don't transfer ownership to you. You get a limited right to use the API as documented while your account is in good standing.
Openly licensed data remains available under the licenses identified on our Data Attribution page. These terms do not restrict the rights those licenses grant you in that data.
7. Third-party services
We use vendors for things like payments, email, hosting, and analytics. Their terms may apply to those pieces. We're not responsible for third-party outages outside our control.
8. Disclaimers
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." Data can be incomplete, stale, or wrong. Don't rely on ParseAPI as your only check for safety-critical, medical, legal, or life-dependent decisions without your own verification.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, ParseAPI and its operators won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, or goodwill. Our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim.
10. Indemnity
You'll defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your use of the API, your content, or your violation of these terms, except to the extent we caused the problem.
11. Cancellation and termination
You can cancel paid plans from the dashboard (or by contacting support). Cancellation stops the next renewal. The plan stays active until the end of the current billing period. You can stop using the service anytime. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, fail payment, or create risk for the platform. Sections that should survive (liability, indemnity, IP, etc.) do.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll bump the date at the top when we do. Material changes may also be called out by email or in the dashboard. Continuing to use the service after an update means you accept the new terms.
